Piano Movers in Sarasota, FL

Pianos are heavy, top-heavy and easy to damage. A safe move starts with the instrument type and an honest look at the route out of the room.

Piano Movers in Sarasota: What to Expect

An upright and a grand move very differently. A grand is usually moved on its side on a padded board, with the legs and pedal lyre removed, while an upright travels upright on a dolly. Either way, the route is the real question: stairs, tight turns, door widths and the ground outside.

Send photos of the piano and the path from the room to the door, plus the same for the new home. Expect the piano to need tuning once it settles into its new spot, since temperature and humidity changes affect the strings, and Sarasota summers are humid.

5 Star Movers Sarasota came highly recommended after my parents had a seamless move with Sean and his crew. I ended up hiring them for two separate moves, and both times were outstanding. Sean was punctual, communicative, honest, and incredibly flexible. His team handled everything, squeezing bulky furniture through tight spaces, protecting fragile items, and even helping me measure and arrange each piece in my new home, turning a task I’d been dreading into a smooth, stress-free experience. 5 Star Movers Sarasota arrives fully prepared with all the equipment needed to get the job done right. If you’re planning a home or business relocation in Sarasota, call Sean and his team, you’ll be in great hands.

Zero stars if I could. My move was scheduled for Sunday, and 10 minutes before the appointment, the movers called to say their truck had broken down. I confirmed that U-Haul had trucks available and offered that as a backup plan, they agreed, then never called back and completely stopped answering. This made it impossible to find a mover on the same day. I’ve had to extend my lease, rearrange my schedule, and deal with all of this while starting a new job. I’ve used great moving companies in the past, and I realize now how easy it is to take that reliability for granted. Do not use this company. They took money up front, ghosted me, and left me completely stranded. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

Piano Moving in Sarasota: What to Plan For

Upright or grand

They move in different ways. A grand is usually turned on its side on a padded board with the legs and lyre removed.

The route is the job

Stairs, tight turns, door widths and the ground outside decide how a piano moves. Photos of the route help most.

Humidity and tuning

Sarasota humidity and the move itself can put a piano out of tune. Book a tuner a couple of weeks after delivery.

Decide the spot first

Choose where the piano goes before move day, away from direct sun and air conditioning vents if you can.

The route

How a Piano Moving Job Runs

  1. Photos and Details

Send the piano type and photos of the room and the route out, plus the same for the new home.

  2. Written Estimate

The estimate reflects the instrument, the stairs and the route at both addresses.

  3. Wrap and Move

The piano is padded and strapped, and a grand has its legs and lyre removed for transport.

  4. Set in Place

The piano is placed in the chosen spot and a grand is reassembled on its legs.

FAQ

Piano Movers, Common Questions

Upright pianos vary significantly in weight depending on their age and size. Spinet and console uprights, the most common type found in Sarasota homes, typically weigh between 300 and 500 pounds. Studio uprights weigh 400–600 pounds, while large professional uprights can reach 700–900 pounds.

Sarasota's older homes, particularly those built in the mid-20th century, often have smaller doorways that require careful angle-maneuvering to get an upright piano through. The humidity and climate can also cause wooden piano components to swell slightly over time, making older pianos in Florida homes occasionally more difficult to move than expected. This is why professional piano movers with the right equipment are essential.
